I would like to give you a brief idea of how you can solve this with Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain in the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, I use the integrated Engineering Change Management (ECM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In ECM, I create a engineering product category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here in my example it is the category &#8220;Din-\/Norm parts&#8221;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/dynamiacs.com\/99bb4dcd-7acf-41ba-8d68-fb7874d1e2ec\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I can also assign attributes to this category. I will cover this topic in another post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To assign a speaking article number to the product category, I click on the pencil next to &#8220;Use number rule nomenclature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/dynamiacs.com\/6e122ab8-ec7a-434b-9208-7155185607f2\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In this rule I manage the allocation guidelines of my article number. Here in my example I first used a text constant &#8220;M99.&#8221;, because my &#8220;Din \/ Norm parts should all start with &#8220;M99.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a second value I have chosen a number range from the Dynamics number sequences, which here represents a 6-digit numeric number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally I can set up my number creation rule depending on e.g. attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/dynamiacs.com\/c06ec7db-2f33-4eba-8b3b-285fb653cf9c\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This sets up the number creation rule and only needs to be set to enabled in the development product category for it to be used.I hope this shows you what possibilities there are with it to work with speaking article numbers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In many companies there are talking article numbers.
